After using the same face scrub for about a year I was bored, but I liked the texture of the scrub and the results so I didn’t want to try something completely new. Instead of making a big change, I tweaked the recipe to include sunflower seeds and dried parsley. Besides being inexpensive and already in my pantry, sunflower seeds are full of vitamin E and fatty acids which help keep skin healthy and can decelerate aging. Parsley, which was already in my spice rack, helps regulate sebaceous glands to keep skin from drying out, it tones skin and it reduces blackheads.
The new ingredients livened up my old face scrub without dramatically altering what I liked about the original. For me, the fact that this type of customization and tweaking can be done on a whim is one of the best parts about making my own personal products.
